Being a teacher, I always ensure that my pupils thoroughly understand Math and Reading programs through skills and approaches in the said fields.
When it comes to Math and Reading, I often use Kumon Method of Learning which gives importance to the development of the character of the individual child, gaining him confidence in facing not just academic problems but also real-life situations as well.
Kumon is an after-school Math and Reading Program that uses a systematic and individualized approach to help the children develop a solid command of Math and Reading skills. Through daily practice and mastery of topics in the Kumon worksheets, students increase confidence, improve concentration and acquire better study skills.
Students begin at a comfortable starting point—determined by our placement test—with work that can be easily completed. This way your child will master the basics and gain complete proficiency with each successive step. Kumon students develop better concentration and study habits because they don't get frustrated by our learning process.
Kumon uses neither a classroom nor a tutoring model, but rather a guided "self-motivated-learning" approach. Worksheets assigned by the Instructor provide an example illustrating the concept to be learned. Then a simple exercise modeled after the example is given. Each new assignment is slightly more challenging than the last. The progression is so gradual that students are able to acquire the skills to advance independently.
Before your child can advance from one assignment to the next, the material should be completed with a perfect score within a prescribed period of time. All work is graded and the results recorded to determine when your child has a total command of the material and is ready to move on.
